Naturalization
An individual is eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship if he or she:

Has been a Lawful Permanent Resident for at least five years or three years if married to a U.S. Citizen.

Is at least 18 years old.
-
Has continuously resided in the U.S. for five years.
-
Has been physically present in the U.S. for at least half of the time required.
-
Has good moral character within the five years preceding the date of application.
-
Can demonstrate a general knowledge of the English Language and the history of the United States unless he/she qualifies for an exemption of the English test based on their age and length of permanent residency in the U.S. or in some cases of disability.
